I have just been diagnosed with TOS last month and had 2 scalene muscles removed from my neck. I am still having burning sensations in my hands and aching in my shoulder and neck. I have a private disability insurance that I am going to use. They told me to wait 9 months and then file with social security. Is this true or should I be filing now. I am going to file for workers comp as well. I was told this will probably be career ending.
Thanks for any info that can be provided

Hello, I am wondering how you are doing after your injections? I have recently been diagnosed with TOS and am in L.A. I am looking into Scalene Block injections and a good doctor who takes Blue Shield. I have seen Dr. Williams at Kerlan Jobe and Dr. Filler who is not covered by my insurance. I am shceduled to see Dr. Jordan but again is not covered. Any recommendations?
Thanks

I have bilateral extra c6 transverse process ribs. Two years of searching and several doctors, I finally found a great doctor to do a rib resection. When I went in for surgery I could barely use my arm. 4 months post op,,still weak, heavy painful and numbness. Not great, but better.still unable to raise my arms above waist level , move them side the side or hold more than 2 lbs. I filled for dissability when I could no longer work. I have been denied twice and gone all the way to see a judge. Just found out I was denied benifits. These judges/attorneys/vocational experts have no idea of how complex TOS is. It was decided that I can do laundry sorting and light manufacturing work. Well, intersesting. I havs TOS Bi laterally. I havent even had the right side rib resection yet! . Since 2009 I have had arnold chairi decompression, Bi lateral carpel tunnel realease, all in the hopes of correcting the weakness in my arms/hands. Im not stopping here, I guess that means going to the appeals council. Has anyone gone through this yet ? Do I have to have an attorney for this step? (She wasnt very helpful at my hearing ) ...how do I get theese people to understand and believe my condition? I am wondering if my vascular surgeon could write something up and I could send it in with my request to the appeals council. Any help would be greatly appriciated .

I am new to this site and am pleased that I found it. I need help in finding a physician for a diagnosis. I have had all the symtoms for 9-10 years now and I am frequently in pain. I filed for disability thinking the problem was in my neck as I had broke it several years ago. When I go to the doctor they don't know what to make of me because they can't identify the problem but has I have never been tested for TOS. Some one please help me. I am convienced as well as my daughter that this is my problem. My daughter is a Massage Therpist. She was the one who told me about this site that discribes all my symtoms. I long since quit work because of the lack of being able to raise my arms and the pain. I have a real bad time trying to get comfortable in the bed to sleep. Can you suggest a physician to go see that knows about this? I appreciate all the help and or comments you may have. mist2030@live.com
