Topic of Talks – Chronic Pain and Hypnosis

Over the last two weeks I have given three talks about how to relieve pain with hypnosis. The important fact of why hypnosis works to relieve pain is through the research that has shown that pain is an interpretation of the pain signals sent by your nerves. This takes place in the “pain center” of the brain.

Hypnosis decreases pain by changing the brain’s interpretation. I work with many referred pain patients and have found much success in teaching the chronic pain patients to control their pain with self hypnosis.

Steven Hauser, M.D. is the Chair of the Department of Neurology at the University of California, San Francisco. He states that hypnosis is the one treatment that makes changes in the brain that significantly reduces pain.
The other advantage is that hypnosis has no side effects.
Dr, Hauser notes that only 1/2 of 1% of M.D.s are neurologists. 90% of the care of patients with neurological problems are under the care of general physicians. For TOS patients and chronic pain patients, the role of education is critical. Here at the TOS Society(TM) we are dedicated to training the medical and alternative care professional about TOS and related diseases. We also are searching out modalities that help our member “Feel Better Now!”

Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS) must be recognized and treated as early as possible to improve the success rate of treatment. Keep visiting this blog to learn how you can participate in our research and what will help you now and in the future.
